We have people who often offer to help us with our work. It’s wonderful that people do.

What takes up most of our time is collecting donation and taking them to our storage. Then we have the mammoth task when having to take a household of furniture/items to a family who are moving into their new home.

Suitable transport also is an issue. We hire a vehicle when moving a family into their home but it not economical to do that to just collect say a bed and mattress. So anyone with a transit van would be a welcomed volunteer. We will cover the cost of petrol which is only fair.

Man/Woman power is needed when moving the families, sometimes this can be a short notice as it’s when Housing come up with something.

We also sometimes have to spend a bit of time making sure our storage is tidy but on the whole it doesn’t take long. Admin work is a very small part of our work as we are approach by the organisation when a family need help. Obviously raising funds to cover the cost of Storage Rental plus Vehicle Hire etc has to be done however the trustees deal with that.

No one receives any payment for helping as we make no charge what so ever to the people we help. People donate items for free we in turn supply those items for free. If you think you could help than please let me know.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of obtaining the first Washing Machine for the Family who moved into their new home on Friday. . This is thanks to all of you who are donating each month along with some other donations we received. . Without you all this would not be possible.

Well it sure was a busy day dealing with case no JH12. What a super bunch of volunteers we have. Up and down those narrow stairs carry things, some how or the other managing to get the bulk of furniture through a gap of less than 2ft 6inches and up those narrow stairs. No way would that Sofa go up there which was such a shame, these leather Sofa seem to cause problems. We all hope that the family are happy in their new home. Thank you very much New Life Domestic Volunteers. You all deserve a medal.
